If you need a
little lime for your Tequila, Armando Chavez's 1960 Ford Sunliner may just
be what you're looking for. This "Big-Time" resto and custom is going to be
just the thing to cruise to MargaritaVille in on a lazy California summer
evening. The final package will include a high-performance 351 Cleveland
motor, a C-6 automatic transmission, and a 9-inch Currie rear-end with
4-link. All for corners will be air-bagged and equipped with Stainless Steel
Brake Corp. disc brakes. The interior will be handled by Mangus at Custom
Auto Interiors. And, as the artists conception suggests, it will be slammed
right to the ground. We may even chop the rag top. http://www.hotrodscustomstuff.com/60sunliner-00.html |

A 1960 Sunliner from eBay July 1, 2001: You are bidding on a box "A" title, original 51245 mileage 1960 ford sunliner. It has a 352-4v that runs strong and starts up at first try, it shifts perfect. I have everything working in car except backup lights, and thats because Ive been to lazy to fix them! The clock is not working. The car is awesome and fun to drive. It has new brakes. It has had a repaint, and the interior was redone to original, even down to the silver piping in the seats. The convertable top boot was remade, but it is supposed to be all red, instead they made it to match all the interior colors, but it is nicely done, and fits great! I chipped away some of the undercoating, and all the floorpans are perfect with no rust. I did find a spot underneath in the trunk area, that was repaired, but I could tell where it was, but it has been fixed. Even though you cant tell it, I took a body magnet over the car looking for bondo. I found some was used in the rocker panels, but not much. It was done nice, as you can tell in the pics. |

| Some Fords I found on Google |
Paul Maddams's Ford: I just wanted to thank you for posting my 1960 Starliner in your picture group. I actually won the engine at an all Ford show. It’s a 1966 390 GT 330 hp long block with stock 1964 intake and 1960 valve covers and air cleaner. I removed the plug wire holds on the valve covers and found a billet wire harness at a performance shop for 352-428 and used that to clean up the wires. It isn’t finished and still needs interior work but most of the chrome is original or NOS and is painted original colonial or Wimbledon white. I still have the original 352 2 barrel so it was a big block car to start. I like to keep the original style look under the hood, I don’t like the breather caps on the valve covers I like them clean and smooth. The car sat under a tree from 1972 to 1990 so it was pretty worn out when I got it just a good thing it’s a California car, only one small rust area in the trunk and the was it. Look me up on the internet I have a published fiction novel out also. |
Chris Malcolm sent me some pics of his '60 Squire frame off project and his new Fairlane 500. |

Ended: May-23-06 18:00:00 PDT VIN: 0F53W104349 Car has been restored, has 4 new tires, new radiator, new carpet, new paint job, rechromed front bumper, all body work was replaced with metal before painting, have extra grill, extra hubcaps,(original hub caps) the door side panels and the hat rack in the back window could be replaced as they are not in as good shape as the rest of the car, the horn is the only thing about the car that I know doesn't work. This car rides good and drives good, just needs a new home! We are moving and do not have garage space. This car has never been wrecked. When it was pulled down for painting all the frame was checked. |

arrow straight with very high end paint and finish. It is as clean
underneath as it is on the top side. All chrome and trim are polished to a
high luster, show quality shine. Everything is new and show quality. No

A really nice custom that went up for sale on eBay.com in Oct 2001:
Rebuilt 460 V8, Rebuilt C6 Automatic, Disc Brakes, Air Conditioning in the
trunk, New Exhaust, New Alternator, Shaved Door handle with electric door Opener
on rockers, New Clarion Am/Fm CD Player, Lowered 4 inches, Griffin Aluminum
Radiator. This is a true Cruiser Runs and Drive Beautifully, fast and a real
head turner. All Graphics are Hand Applied. This car was Built and Owned by
Brian Setzer of the Band Stray Cats.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320090310028
The interior is tan leather. Everything is custom aside from the
dash. The dash is restored to original. The original design looks custom
but is factory. Console, power bucket seats, door panels etc. look like a
work of art inside this ride. The trunk is finished to match. Only the
best of materials were used and it clearly shows.
The motor is a 302/5.0 V8 crate engine that has been built by Street
and Performance. It has been detailed out to show. The block, oil pan etc
were all painted to match the exterior of the car. Fender wells are gloss
black. Everything under the hood is either polished, chromed or painted to
a high shine. It runs as good as it looks. It has a huge aluminum radiator
to keep it running cool and billet serpentine belt system. Even the a/c
compressor is polished out.
Wheels are 17 x 8 Boyd Coddington's with custom Sunliner center caps.
They have new Kuhmo 255/50/17 tires all around. The wheels fit right and
show off the 4 wheel power disc brakes behind them. eBay never fails
to deliver interesting finds, such as this "Mayberry" police car mockup.
They only used the 1960 Fairlane in a few episodes.

the enclosed pics are how it
currently looks. the drawing was done by an
artist buddy, based on the first picture. it's sorta what i'm going for
style-wise. it's all original. 292, 3-sp with electric overdrive, 74,000
original miles, no rust except the little hole you see in front of the rear
wheel. it's an original birmingham, alabama (where i live) car.
i rarely drive it. it runs, but not that good. it needs the standard
restoration stuff.....engine re-built, headliner and front seatcover,
bumpers straightened some, and minor bodywork and a paint job. someday, when
i get to it, i want to make it into a cool street cruiser (torq-thrust's!).
i think it'll be an eye-catcher because it's so different. i personally have
never seen another one like it, and only one picture of another one.
